DAY 4 – CUSCO TO LIMA, PERU
We all met in the pretty hotel courtyard and after breakfast, Luis walked us around the beautiful city centre of Cusco, beginning with an extensive tour of the magnificent Church of Santo Domingo, which was literally across the road from the hotel we were staying at. The lively Plaza de Armas, a short walk through some narrow and busy walkways, boasted more incredible works of stone masonry in the form of cathedrals, ornate buildings and the golden "Statue of Pachacuti", once Emperor of the Inca empire….. and there were market stalls as well!!!!
It would have been nice to have spent an hour or two relaxing and having a coffee whilst watching the passing crowds here as there was so much to take in and the views of the homes rising up the hillside beyond the Plaza were again picture perfect.
It was time to say goodbye to Luis and we thanked him for a truly unforgettable few days - his archaeological knowledge was exceptional and there was never a question he could not answer. Then without much delay, we were whisked to the airport for our final flight back to Lima on Air Avianca, after which a bus ride to the Port of Callao, Lima, albeit through the seedier side of this city – not picture perfect and crazy busy traffic!!
It was an absolute joy to thank Jaime from 'Patagonia Shorex' for all his hard work and effort in putting this 4-day, extensive, sometimes tiring, interesting, jam-packed awesome and fun tour together, which went off without a single hitch….. we were all so appreciative and will treasure many great memories of a once in a lifetime trip J
Back to the beautiful "Sea Princess" and guess what??..... more market stalls !!!!
