WONDERFUL DAYS IN ENGLAND WITH FAMILY & FRIENDS
We woke to the most glorious morning and all thoughts of our nightmare flight were far behind us. Our Travelodge Hotel was in the heart of Redhill Town Centre, on the 4th/5th floors, with shops and pubs on our doorstep… and a massive new Sainsbury's underneath us. We spent most of the day just chilling and 'keeping cool'. Found another great pub across the road, "The Sun" – good meals J
With some planning from home over the last few months, our family get together on Colin's side of the family was organised for later in the week, and then, by sheer coincidence, a family Christening on my side of the family, the day after…..
On Tuesday we took the fast & very clean train to London Bridge Station to meet a dear friend of Colin's at an old English pub, 'The Shipwrights Arms' - we ate, drank and chatted for over 3 hours catching up on news and old times.
Earlier in the day, we walked through Borough Market, which was abuzz with stall holders preparing gourmet delights and we enjoyed coffee by The Thames, whilst phoning the kids. It was also a short walk away from the Tower of London & Tower Bridge, which now has a fabulous open meeting place for lunch time workers as well as tourists & with the very best view of one of London's newest creations – The Shard…. extremely impressive!!
Excellent train system, clean and on time and we returned back to Redhill and later back to "The Sun" for more refreshments and dinner.
